RedVines...

This had been a pretty slow week for me, so I guess I'll just jump right into the topic!

Mmmm.... Food. I love love love food! I'm gonna give you a countdown of my top 5 favorite foods (in no particular order):

Number 5: the Breakfast Taco. They are nearly ubiquitous in south Texas. Sold everywhere from the school cafeteria to gas stations to the taco stand down the road. One of my favorites my favorite would have to be the bean and cheese taco. It’s just refried beans and melted cheese wrapped lovingly in a flour tortilla. Mmmm....

Number 4: Mac and Cheese I know, it hardly need explaining. But there's just something about the creamy cheese and the pasta that just gets me. I do NOT like the Kraft stuff though. Homemade is the only way to eat it right.

Number 3: Red Vines what the hell CANT they do? Sorry, it just needed to be done. And if you haven't seen A Very Potter Musical and A Very Potter Sequel.... watch them Here and Here. But make sure to watch AVPM first :)

Number 2: Italian Food. Yes! I CAN say food from an entire country because I’ve never met an Italian dish I didn't like.... Well as long as is it doesn’t have fish or onions. But besides that, I love Italian food.

Number 1: Bacon don’t ask me why because I don’t really know. I just love the saltiness and crunchiness and the smell.... I. Love. Bacon. I know that it’s like one of the worst foods I can eat (along with cheese and ranch which, like bacon, I try to eat as much as possible) but it is just so darn delicious! I love it!

In other news: I'm going to do BEDA (blog every day in August) so make sure to follow my blog at loveekimmie.blogspot.com for updates on my very boring life.

This week didn't suck because even though I got banned from Skype (long story, mom doesn’t want me to be there yada yada) I learned that I made a lot of new and amazing friends this summer!

Questions!

1) I can cook decently. I can make most stuff without burning is and pride myself on my breakfast tacos :)

2) Onions. I hate the taste and the crunchiness of it. It’s like nasty celery.

3) Cheese. I've had at least some type of cheese in most meals that I’ve ever eaten by choice.

1) OMG SHARK WEEK!

2) How many shark weeks have YOU watched?

3) Are you ready for school? (Mine starts next Thursday. In the MIDDLE of shark week

I must go now. Best Wishes!

-Kimmie

ps: I am seriously scrounging for books. Titles please?

pps: PUNISHMENT?!?

FOoOoOoOoOD

I'll admit I have very little planned to talk about today. And by very little I mean nothing. That's where the theme comes in handy. So let's talk about food. And I apologize if this is a little short.

Awesome Thing for this week!

BAKED GOODS!
Baked goods are just simply amazing because it's like food, only more special. In addition to being absolutely delicious (Well, hopefully whoever is giving you cookies or whatever is good at baking. If not, things could get disastrous.), baked goods are also there to remind you of someone you love! To have someone like you enough to put time and effort into making you delicious sweets is a glorious thing, I tell you.

P.S. I also love baking cookies. =]

Questions!
1.) Funfetti cake FTW!
2.) Monkey bread. It's this delicious food that I can hardly explain, and our family has it every Christmas morning. It's cinnamony and sugary and hot and delicious. And has nothing to do with monkeys.
3.) I'm not big for eating out, but I do love Panera Bread or Noodles and Co.

And some for Thursday:
1.) Can you cook? Well?
2.) What food would you not eat EVER?
3.) What food could you live on your entire life?

Okay, so I'm leaving on Tuesday to go across the pond! Off to London I go! I have absolutely no idea what kind of internet access I'm going to have over there, so I'll try to post, but please have no expectations. Sorry!

Tuesday the Sixth (and also the twenty-seventh)

Hello, my darlings. Happy Tuesday.
Now, I'm sure all of you like food. I mean, who doesn't, really? So, here, in honor of food week, I present you with a countdown of the best food-related sites.

#7) Sellek Waterfall Sandwich. I have no clue what this is about, but it's fun.
#6) Scanwiches. Lots of pictures of sandwiches.
#5) Fuck Yeah Food Cravings. This will make you crave things. Like ramen. *sigh*
#4) Epicute. Food that is cute.
#3) Food P0rn. No explanation needed.
#2) FUCK YEAH CILANTRO. It's all about cilantro, and how awesome it is. (Although personally, I'm not to fond of it myself, unless its in Pico de Gallo.)
#1) This Is Why You're Fat. The most insane food concoctions known to man.

Now, TV DIRT. It's a food court musical. Spontaneously. Gotta love Improv Everywhere.

Now, usually I'd have a Today in History, but nothing really happened today, so instead I give you a hamster with a pancake on its head.

And questions for Wednesday:
1) Favourite cake flavour?
2) Best thing you have ever eaten?
3) Best restaurant?

EDIT: I will be travelling the next two Tuesdays, so I may not have the opportunity to post. I will attempt to write in advance, though.

Friday, July 23, 2010

well hellooooo Friday! This week has gone by so fast (for me anyways). This blog will come to you in.... several parts. I have no idea how many, we'll figure that out as we go along.

PART ONE: Travel. So over the past week, i've seen several views on travel and its time that you guys knew mine. While I, like Fred, have an aversion to "tourist travel", I do want to see as much of this little blue planet as humanly possible before i kick the bucket. I love going places and seeing new things, but i honestly hate the way we travel. When we travel, we try to keep things as "normal" as possible. We stay in hotels that look exactly the same no matter where in the world you are. We eat at chain restaurants no matter where we are. I dont think that tht is the way one should travel. When I travel, i want to see what its like to live in a place, not walk by and look in the window.
When I go somewhere, i want to eat at local places (and like real local not the "local place" thats a big tourist trap) and look in all the little shops on main street and stuff like that. But maybe its just me.

PART TWO: I got a wand!!! My mom's friend went WWoHP and she totally suprised me and BROUGHT ME BACK A WAND! see?

PART THREE: AVPS! I don't know if you've seen A Very Potter Musical, but the sequel just came out and from what I've seen, it is hilarious! I haven't seen act 2 yet, so if anyone spoils it for me, I will HUNT YOU DOWN AND FEED YOU TO DALEKS (pinkey promise)!!

PART FOUR: ummmm.... am I the only one who can't wait for Johns exercise video?

PART FIVE: questions!

1)This is hard, because i LOVE food. But I'm going with Italy and Texico (Tex-Mex food is the bomb-diggity)
2)Italy and... England
3)Texas, Florida, and North Carolina

1)If you had to eat one food with every meal for a week, which one and why?
2)do you like bacon?
3)Where does your favorite food come from?

Thats all for this week. I'll see y'all on monday!

Hugs, Kisses and Best Wishes!

-Kim

PS! I Never got the deets on my punishment! Fill me in!

Lia is Musical Lovely and likes to travel. She is also a horrible person.

OK I know I suck. I'm a horrible horrible person but in all fairness I had family, cats, parental controls and stupid computers get in my way. I was about ready to beat myself over the head with a rubber chicken. Really, I would have, but I couldn't find one. Magdelina HAPPY BIRTHDAY and KATHERINE I AM SHOCKED AND APPALLED!!! You didn't mention that in TWO DAYS we are going with Esira to the Harry Potter theme Park!!! How dare you???? I am horrified. PS I can do that piano exercise with 2 hands now!!

Anyway love travel and music. Not necessarily in that order I guess I'l start with music. I have played the violin for just over 4 years, the guitar for one and the piano technically since kindergarten but I forgot everything so now I'm taking lessons again. I even have one today. I love soundtracks I love all kinds of music really anything from screamo to country is perfectly fine with me. I'm not picky at all. I even like classical. I have Esira with me right now and all she has to say on that subject is that she likes it!

Love. Tough one. I love lots of things. I'm obsessive over Harry Potter. I really like my boyfriend and I would die for my family. They are all just so awesome in their weird awkward ways. That family vacation I was taking about earlier with them way by a beautiful lake that I LOVED in a giant house that I LOVED complete with foozball table and wifi. Unfortunately arrived to late to post and the place I was at formerly had a parental control problem. Grrr. So love is a big thing in my life. I love wizard wrock too. OH did you see what I did there? I tied in TWO THEMES AT ONCE!!!!!

OK so I have already established that I was on family vacation. I traveled to a beautiful lake in Vermont that is quite possible one of the better kept secrets of the world for all it's beauty. I absolutely fell in love with it and the house we were staying at as I said. What's better is that we didn't even really need to clean up afterwards because the people who owned the place hired aids to pick up. In addition the place had two kayaks, a paddleboat and a paddleboard (which, if you didn't know is a sort of surfboard that you stand on and use a long paddle to maneuver with.) It's bloody amazing. So is my cat. Sorry to interrupt this description of my travels but I just have to say that my cat is freaking adorable. Just ask Katherine. Anyway so I have already mentioned this but I am going to Florida to the Harry Potter Theme Park with Katherine and Esira!!!! YAY!!!! We get back next Wednesday just in time for my post SO I will be sure to tell everyone about it!!!!! YAY!!!! I am ecstatic for this trip! I can't wait to taste the butterbeer!!!

Anyway I hope I satisfied the theme and what's my punishment????? Lia wants to know!

Questions!
1.) Favorite form of transportation? Floo Powder. JUST KIDDING trains
2.) What country other than the US would you most like to live? CANADA or JAPAN
3.) Where have you traveled outside of the US? No where BUT i'm going to Nicaragua If my parents can stand each other long enough to get me a passport

MORE QUESTIONS

A.)What country has your favorite food?
B.)What are your two favorite countries?
C.)What are your three favorite states?

Wednesday Travel (I can't think of clever titles)

Hey look it's Wednesday. Almost forgot!

So yesterday was my birthday! Yay!

I'm rather scatterbrained today, so you'll have to forgive me.

Okay, something that is awesome this week:

Road trips!
I have been on so many road trips in my life, I can't even tell you. But I can honestly say I've loved every single one. I know that a lot of my friends can't stand being in a car for more than, say, two hours, but I personally am of the opinion that a long car ride makes everything more fun.

Reason #1 that road trips are awesome: Catching up on reading! I always feel like I'm behind on whatever books I'm reading. But just hop in a car for a few hours and I'll read three books in one trip! Well, depending on how long the trip is.

Reason #2 that road trips are awesome: Adventure! I love the fact that I can get in a car, spend all day there, and end up somewhere completely different. And what makes it different than airplanes is that on a road trip, you get to watch as the landscape changes and you travel towards your destination.

Aaaaaand reason #3 that road trips are awesome: Bonding time!!!! It doesn't matter if you're not even talking most of the trip, you're still spending hours upon end with the same people and that brings you closer together! Spending time together with family or friends or whoever is always more fun if it's on a road trip.

Disclaimer: I've never driven on a road trip.... So I'm not sure how that would affect my opinion.

That all being said, I also love airplanes.... I'm a sucker for travel. When I graduate college I plan on backpacking through Europe. And then I've got to hit Tokyo and Beijing and New Zealand and .... Everywhere else, too. =P

Questions!
1.) If you could travel to any time period, which one would it be?
Normally my answer is the 1950s, but normally the question is which decade. Since you broadened it to any time period, I might say the 1880s.

2.) What fictional planet would you travel to?
Although I love Star Wars and I saw the Star Trek movie and loved that, I do not claim to be any sort of sci fi nerd. That being said, I suppose I'll go with Magrathea from H2G2.

3.) Favourite time travel/ space travel movie?
Back to the Future? I reiterate that I have not seen many sci fi movies. =P

More Questions!
1.) Favorite form of transportation?
2.) What country other than the US would you most like to live?
3.) Where have you traveled outside of the US?

Tuesday the Fifth (and also the twentieth)

Hey y'all. It's kind of Tuesday. Which is pretty sweet.

Anyways, this week's topic is travel. Now, since I hate traveling in a tourist sense, I decided I would use this topic as an excuse to talk about travel through time and space.

Now, since time and pace travel IRL will most likely always suck. It's true. Granted, that's mostly because we never can time travel (at least according to the laws of the universe as we understand them), or travel at faster than light speeds (which renders space travel stupid), but who needs reality. I'm here to talk about the greatest time and space travel stories of all time.

Now, in terms of british time/space travel shows, the obvious choice is Doctor Who. Everyone loves the Doctor and his TARDIS. However, I'm not really for talking about that right now. What I wanna tell y'all about is Red Dwarf. Red Dwarf is one of the greatest sci-fi shows ever created. Here's the plot, the trailer, the theme, and an awesome clip (which is worth waiting through the intro for).

Now, as a sci fi fan, I am completely obligated to talk about the epic space travels of the crew of the USS Enterprise. I mean, what can get more travel-y than Star Trek? They were at a different crazy ass planet every week, having crazy ass adventures. Who wouldn't want to travel with the crew of the Enterprise?

And how can I talk about space travel without mentioning Galaxy Quest? I mean, /come on/. It produced the most amazing line of all time. Also, it's about the cast of a Star Trek-y show actually traveling across the galaxy. What more do you want?

Now, I should probably get to TV DIRT, huh? How about some Science Fiction-Double Feature? It's all about traveling to the theatre to see terrible sci-fi movies. Which is totally relevant to the theme, yeah? I thought so.

And Today in History?
Well, Apollo 11 landed on the goddamned moon. How fucking cool is that?

Have some answers...
1) I never want to visit the 14th century. It had all that plague.
2) Least favourite trip? Mars. It was awful and dry and hot and the Martians were all quite cranky.
3) Coolest thing? I chilled with the Serenity crew when I hitched a ride with them to Ariel.

...and some questions:
1) If you could travel to any time period, which one would it be?
2) What fictional planet would you travel to?
3) Favourite time travel/ space travel movie?

Hi I almost forgot but It is monday!

God Damn HELL FIRE AGHHHH
sooo I am really very swamped, yet again, sigh.I am sorry dearest Fred but I regret to inform you that grammar will not be consistent, I know I know, I suck :(

at lest im nt doiin thiz!

God that shit annoys me, UGH even using U instead of you annoys me!!!!! Well unless your texting, its sort of ok then. But companies or magazines or music??? NO N,O. JESUS CHRIST ITS THREE FUGGING LETTERS!!!! I'll stop with the Cap Locks now... and the ellipse's.

So besides that I LOVE YOU ALL! Oh shoot sorry, I love you all. No caps is more difficult than I thought, seeing as it literally takes more effort to make it capitalized than to not.

sigh

Travel, hmmmm
one word
Japan, I know, I'm an artist why not go to France?
haha you guys I would have that at the number one place to go EVER (god damn caps)
except that 1. the Euro sucks 2. i've already been so i can't have that on my "places I really want to see once before I die" because that would change the list to a "places i really want to go numerous times before I die" and that would just be asking for trouble. I don't know what trouble exactly, but it would be bad.
and not sexy bad, bad bad.
as in Oh "I'm a hot guy who turns out to be a pickpocket that has seduced you, and you mom, and your brother, even though my brother is straight ( but we all know he would be cooler if he was gay, because he and his best friend are made for each other) and have now not only stolen your hearts, but stolen your money as well in my sexy french way"
We'll it could happen.
maybe, ok I'm tired no judging. I Had 7 hours of art class in a row, and 3 and 1/2 of those hours were terrible, HE TALKED FOR 2 HOURS!!!!!! Then made us do "gesture drawings of the same three apples again and again for 1 and 1/2 hours. APPLES HAVE NO FUGGING GESTURE@! THEY ARE INANIMATE!!!!! God I hate stupid old people that make me pay money to be miserable five days a week.

anywho, I love you all, questions anyone?

and from my lovely friend Kim

1) If you could live anywhere in the world, where and why? - France, because seducing pickpockets are irresistible ;)

2) What is your most/least favorite trip and why?

the trip I just took to NY because my mom and my dad and my brother (who is 16) argued all the way there and all the way back :(

and now fred

what is the one place you NEVER want to visit?

what is the coolest thing you've done on a trip?

dftba BYE! oh damn it Caps lock. bye!

Weeeeekend post

I have to post this weekend to respond to Fred's questions! Oh yeah! I almost forgot....

1.) Your first love?

There are a lot of ways to interpret this question, but I'm going to answer with my first real crush. (Well they very well may have been others but this is the first one I remember.) I was in .... 6th grade? And he was in 8th grade and he was the lead in the school play and I thought he was the best actor in the world (which was definitely false). I don't even remember his name, but we (we being me and all my friends who were also obsessed with him) all called him "The Muppet," which apparently we thought was cute.

2.) Most lovable historical figure?

I've always loved Thomas Jefferson.

3.) Because he'll take you out dancing just so he can hold you close.... =]

Even Wand's Can't Cast a True Love Spell

Good afternoon y'all! Let me take a moment to point out the fact that I managed to be the only person this week to NOT CUT IT CLOSE OR MISS. That is pretty awesome (well for me, for y'all that kind of sucks. Just Kidding! I love the excitement. 'OMG THEY DID IT WITH 12MINUTES TO SPARE! GOOOOOOL!") ha ha

So, Love. The thing that seems to be on the mind of every human on the planets older than like, 12. As you guys have pointed out over the week, there are different kinds of love. From the giddy, magical, crazy romantic kind to the warm, cozy familial kind to the unbreakable bond of friendship. In out teen years (and indeed for most of our lives), it seems like we give the first kind the most attention even though all three are equally important. I'm gonna try and talk about all three.

Romantic Love: Well I just say that besides a few (IE. a lot) of crushes over the years) mostly on celebrities and book characters and the like), the only experience I have with this kind is movies, music and other people. I must admit that I've help almost all of my friends thought their petty middle school love problems and right now I sort of help my mom since she has no one else to talk too, but that's about it. Mostly all I know about this kind of live is that

1) I want it. I want to be some one's Yeti someday! Is that so bad?

2) It looks like this

Family love: This is the most familiar kind of love for most of us. It’s that automatic knowing that you love your mom, dad, sister, crazy Great Grandma Olivia, and all those cousins. It seems to me that almost every family has a Tia Rosa or Tia Emma; a Tio Joe or Tio Chuy, but that might just be where I come from. When I think of family, I think of everyone in the family squeezing into grandma's house for Christmas and barbecues for no reason and things like that.

Friendship: This is that kind of love that we chose and also chooses us. I've had plenty of Friends all my life, but it took me moving all the way to Florida to realize something: my favorite group of friends will always be online. I've never had a 'best Friend' IRL and maybe that's because no one understands me like the people and Nerdfighters I met on the interwebs.

How this week didn't suck: Nerds everywhere came together and helped the Harry Potter Alliance to win $250,000 on Monday! We worked long and hard and even when thing looked grim, we fought and won!

In other news: my Tia Jess (who we're staying with right now) and her Husband and son went to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter park this weekend and she just told me that she bought me a replica wand! Eeeeeeeeeeeep! I've wanted one for forever! I can't wait until they get backSunday1\!

One more thing! What exactly is my punishment and when is it due?

Questions for Monday:

1) If you could live anywhere in the world, where and why?

2) What is your most/least favorite trip and why?

That's all for me Loves! Until next week I send hugs kisses and Best Wishes!

Love

So right now it's, again, not Wednesday. It's Saturday night.... And tomorrow (being Sunday) I leave for a week of service in which I have no computer or cell phone or anything.... SO one again I must write my post ahead of time! Actually, I was just going to skip next week, but I admit I've been excited for this week's theme and I don't want to pass it up. I also apoligize if this is rather long. I have a lot to say.

Now, obviously I haven't read anyone else's posts, but I'm willing to bet, well I don't know what, but I'm willing to bet something that you mostly talked about boys and crushes and whatnot. And that's fine. But by only talking about romantic love, we're missing out on all that the word means. So what does love mean? As always, we go to Wikipedia for the answer.

"Love is any of a number of emotions related to a sense of strong affection and attachment."

Okay. Now Google image search.... And I've got a bunch of red hearts. I still don't know what love means. (What?! The internet couldn't answer my question?! Impossible!) The thing is, I think love is a thing of such great magnitude that no words or images or thoughts or blog posts can explain it completely. Nevertheless, I'll try.

Notice Wikipedia said "any number of emotions" -- but we've only got one word. Well, those clever ancient Greeks had it all figured out and used multiple words for love. For example, the romantic love that our culture fixates on so much is called "eros." Eros is described as being "passionate" and "sensual" -- this is what we're used to. But there are two other really important words the Greeks have. For example, "philia." Whether we know it or now, we've all experienced this kind of love. Philia is the relationship we have with our friends. When we share things in common with others, when we enjoy spending time with others, when we feel loyalty to others, that's love. It's an incredibly important type of love, too, and one that I think we ignore or take for granted way too often. I think what bothers me about our fixation on eros is that we forget about philia.

The third Greek word for love is "Agape." This is the kind of love that I think is hardest to explain, but I think it is by far the most important. According to Wikipedia, agape has a "deeper sense of true love" than eros. Agape is more of a .... sense of compassion for mankind. It's this kind of love that connects us with the rest of the world -- we have nothing in common with those suffering in third world countries, so it isn't philia, and we're not romantically attracted to them, so it's definitely not eros. But we have the common bond of being human beings and this love with what connects us.

I once heard the phrase, "I don't believe in God, but I do believe in good." Now, I do believe in God, beacuse I believe God and good are the same thing, but that's a different story. The "good" spoken of in that phrase, I think, refers to the love that we all feel in our lives. The point of the phrase is that, regardless of religious affiliation or lack thereof, we all feel love. We all have those moments that no words can describe, when we just feel that there is more to us than just cells and tissues -- call it a soul, call it God, call it "being made of awesome," whatever. There's more to us than just us, and I think that extra thing is love. And we all have it, and that's what brings us together. And when we come together, we can do truly amazing things.

So, um, that's what love means to me! And now I leave you with a song, actually. Please don't be put off by the fact that it's Christian rock. I swear it's just a good song relevant to my post.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-he2DohfwWE

Have a good week, everyone! I'll be sure to tell you all how my week went in my next post!

Oh, and I love you all!

P.S. I know there wasn't an awesome thing listed today.... But I was preoccupied with our theme....

Tuesday the Fourth (and also the thirteenth)

I, like Child, am cutting this a bit close. I'm writing this at 11:00 pm Central. I usually am in Mountain, so I'm a little off ^.^
Anyways, Love.

Now, I'm of the belief that love is flexible and something that one does not control. Love is something that is different for everyone, and yet a complete commonality.

Now, TV DIRT. This was perfect.

And TODAY IN HISTORY: Sir Patrick Stewart was born. There is nothing more love-related than this man. Happy Birthday, Sir Stewart. You are awesome.

And to Child'd questions:
1) I currently hold unrequited love for this man, but it's only unrequited because he hasn't met me yet.
2) My three great loves: politics, science fiction, all things Cory Doctorow. And Harry Potter.
3) First of all, don't assume that everyone is heterosexual. I'm certainly not. And second, I want them gorgeous. Male, female, doesn't matter. I want them stunning, sexy, and smart.

Now, my questions for Wednesday, who will answer them on the weekend:
1) Your first love?
2) Most lovable historical figure?

Monday, July 12, 2010

Hello, my name is Katherine Claire Child, and I am a book addict.

Jesus Christ I am pulling this fucking CLOSE! So I actually have a reason for not writing until well, now... its not per say a GOOD reason, but its a reason none the less.
I started reading Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

and I finished it.

MIND you I started it at 5 o'clock and i had to go out for like 3-4 hours in between so it is sort of, ya know, amazing that i finished in time to write this AT ALL!
Oh god I am such a horrible person, I'm putting my petty love of literature above my love of this blog.
god damned procrastination

BUT since this theme is L O V E (thank you dearest Fred) I guess that is something sort of kind of related to topic.
wait hold the phone WHAT DID YOU JUST THINK????? I know what you just thought, you all thought that my LOVE WASN"T PURE! That I was being selfish and greedy by ignoring you all to read about a distopia in which children kill each other much in the fashion of a kill or be killed gladiator televised blood bath.

to which I SAY!
yah thats basically it, BUT COME ON ITS AWESOME! God its like 1984 with like EVERYTHING AWESOME X50000000000000million

so now on to actual love. well... It sort of sucks, sometimes. Of course I've only experianced the middle school "oh does he like me???" and "eeehhhhh lets "date" for two weeks and then have a gut wrenching heart breaking earth-shattering split up to which I BEAR THE PAIN" Well I actually haven't had one of those yet but I have seen a whole ton and actually the worst part about love

is that boys are mainly idiots, who on a whole are sadly oblivious :(
Which by no levels means that love is suckish, love is beautiful and wonderful and really fantastic when your in it! But when love (like mine) remains unrequited for 6 months, it really is disheartening. sigh

I kind of still love him DON'T YOU HIT ME LIA!

oh well High schools arriving it gets better right? PLEASE tell me it gets better I mean it does, right Fred????

phew ok that's good you had me worried for a second there

as for the LOVELY AS ALWAYS (and completely amazing) Kim's Questions
1.) First REAL crush? Tom. Who was a really smart guy in my class in 8th grade, first CRUSH? Nick whatshisname in 1st grade, he was an idiot.

2.) Brains, actually no, genius, I find prodigies really very attractive. Artemis Fowl is my ultimate fan girl fantasy (and Tom Riddle but well he's a genius too) I also like dark hair or interestingly foreign people. people who will talk about school and life and literature aannnddd someone who isn't totally unromantic. Of course this is just my idea of "ideal"

so now my dearest Fred

1.) Have you ever had an unrequited love and or do you have a significant other
2.) what are your three great "loves"
3.) (because this is an awesome question) what do you like most in a guy?

ttfn Dftba I MADE IT!!!! (in my time zone it is 11:44 pm)

see you next monday, and I'll see your awesome blog tomorrow Fred :)

I can haz Cheez burger?

Hey Guys! I thought that i wouldn't be able to do this today, but i can!

So, music. i just got my first iPod for Christmas. By mistake i got a 16 gig and i love it!
One thing i love about music it that it transcends the world. people have music whether they live in a mansion by the sea or a hut in the desert. I agree. I feel like i would go crazy without music.

I'm sorry, but I'm gonna cut my music ranting short (trust me, i probably will rant about it in the future. But i have some other stuff i want to talk to y'all about.

1) I yelled at twitter. I got so frustrated with twitter that i wrote every one of my followers this letter:

Dear people of twitter: why is it that when someone links you to a YouTube video, you watch it? When they link you to a gossip site, you read hungrily? But when someone asks you as a friend to actually do good for the freaking WORLD you live in and help a charity they gives a damn about more than just some celebrities arrest record, you ignore it? What does that say about our generation? Answer me this twitter. Because I thought you were better than that. I thought you were good people who care about actual issues. Was I wrong? I hope not for our Future. Prove me wrong twitter. Help people who care about our world. Vote at hpaftw.com. Be a role model. Love, me.

(more about that charity in a minute.) the thing was, i had sent at least 45 personal direct messages and at least 25 @replies and NONE of them would help me. But they were quick to care which stupid celeb got arrested, How messed up is that. Ugh.

2) I want a bacon cheeseburger. Like freaking bad. I got my tonsils out yesterday and i can only eat liquids like 'fibersauce' (what i call applesauce with fiber) and pudding. But all i want is a freaking cheeseburger! It was also my moms birthday and i couldn't have her cake. And instead of dome delish birthday meal, i got lukewarm chicken broth. I cant talk so i can let my vocal cords heal so i have to use a white board.

Awesome thing YOU can do this week:
Do you guys what the Harry Potter Alliance is? The HP Alliance takes a creative, outside of the box approach to activism by taking parallels from the Harry Potter books to educate and mobilize over 100,000 young people across the world on issues of social justice and personal empowerment. The result has been the building of a thriving, effective activist community that gets results, media attention, builds chapters, and opens the door to a new kind of activism that uses new media platforms in the most cutting edge ways.

By translating some of the world's most pressing issues into the framework of Harry Potter, it makes activism something easier to grasp and less intimidating. We often show our members how easy it is to take action by working with one of our partner NGO's. The results that we have found in this quirky quest for social justice has been astounding. <- bio from the site.

Well the thing is they're entering this contest to win 250 THOUSAND dollars to fund their work. If you could go to www.hpaftw.com and vote for them to win. it only takes like 5 seconds and we really need your help. If you could get at least 3 people to do this and have them get 3 more people, etc. We could win this thing. The voting ends this Monday and we need every vote possible. Including yours.

and I'm gonna answer Maggie's questions since i didn't get any:

1) The Spice Girls because they were my first favorite band.

2)The tambourine needs a comeback.

3)All of my Wizard Rock.

And Monday's questions:

1) who was your first crush?

2) What do you like most in a boy?

and that's all for me. Sorry this was super long. I guess since i cant talk, i type!

Best Wishes,

Kim

Magdelina's Music

This week's theme, of course, is music. It's coming at a really opportune time for me, actually, because I recently acquired an iPod! I know I'm a little late in the game.... It's a but of a long story, but the point is that I have one now! I'm having lots of fun finding all the music I want to put on it. =]

My freshman English teacher once said that people who don't like music end up being, like, terrorists. (I'm sure there was much more to the story than that, but this was the gist of it, as I remember.) Now, he was a little crazy, but I think he's got a point. Music is a universal language that, I think, helps us all keep in touch with our thoughts. Without music, I know I would go crazy, and I have a feeling that lots of others would agree with me.
We may have epic arguments about whether country is a respectable genre or if rapping counts as singing, but music is one of those things that no matter where you are or who you're with, it's there. Music is an incredible important part of any culture. Think about it -- we even have a national anthem. A song that represents our country. We don't have a book, or play, or movie to do that. Just a song. We don't let just anything represent our country, so the fact that we chose a song means a lot.

And the Awesome Thing this week is: GLEE!
I'm sorry if you hate this show, but I love it so much. I know, the plot can be ridiculous and the writing is sometimes not so good, but when they sing.... It gives me chills. When I saw the first episode and they sang Don't Stop Believing, I was hooked. Hearing them sing like they do makes me want to pursue music as a career. As my friend told me once, I want to do that, give people those feelings. I usually don't like fluff, but Glee isn't fluffy in the usual way. It's silly, but that what I like. It's happy and optimistic. Sometimes that all I want. =] Oh, and some good singing.

Anyway, I kind of play the piano, but mostly I sing. Music has always been a big part of my life, and I hope it stays that way. I do want to be able to write songs someday. I don't think I'm good enough on the piano to do that yet. But I'm definitely a music nerd. Sometimes when I have a song stuck in my head I'll try and figure our the sol fege. (That's the do re mi syllables that you put on notes according to the key signature. It helps when sightreading and it's a total nerd thing.) And that's why I do in my head when I'm bored.... =P

Questions answered!
1.) Can I say electric violin? Because I'm going to. Yeah, electric violin. I'm really partial to the ukulele, though it's not really badass....
2.) I'm really bad at this question.... I don't see tons of movies.... But I suppose I'll have to say the theme of Psycho because it's the first thing that comes to mind.
3.) Either Derek and the Dominos' Layla or Journey's Don't Stop Believing. Or Glee's cover of it. =]

And questions for Thursday:
1.) If you could be a part of any band, past or present, which would you chose and why?
2.) What obscure instrument do you wish was more widely used. (For instance, a melodica or a kazoo or a xylophone.)
3.) What song do you blast when no one's home?

Tuesday the Third (and also the sixth)

So, last night as I was laying in bed at 2 am, sweating like a hog in a sauna, a song popped into my head. You probably know which one. But this song has been stuck in my head since, and therefore I have been singing (re: caterwauling) it since. And honestly, me belting out the chorus of "It's Too Hot" while in the shower probably wasn't my family's ideal way to start the day.
But anyways. I've decided to start a new feature. Yeah, you read that right. Tuesday gets TWO WHOLE FEATURES. And, to be completely honest, I will most likely be coming up with new ones as time goes on. ^.^
Now, my new feature is The Video That Fred Decides is Relevant to the Theme, or TVTFDIRTTT (TV DIRT for short). And, since this week is music week, I bring you this video.
Now, as it is Music Week, I also bring you The 10 Most Terrifyingly Inspirational Songs of the 1980's. This list includes such masterpieces as "Eye of the Tiger" and "Final Countdown". The songs on this list are pretty much the epitome of inspirational epic awesome, and will eliminate impossibility (while listening to them). Seriously, I tamed a dinosaur while listening to "Eye of the Tiger".
Today in History: Richard the Lionheart was crowned King and Geoffrey Rush was born. Yes, in the same year.
Now, to Child's questions.
1) I play the piano, the chanter, the guitar, and the vuvuzela. BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
2) That's a difficult question. I'd probably go for Sam Tyler. Or Captain John Hart. Or Owen Harper. Probably Sam Tyler.
3) My ultimate pet peeve is stupid people. I hate them. Also, bad spelling and grammar. And Twilight fans (fans of Taylor Lautner's abs are oaky, though).
4) I don't really have a favourite band. I like a lot: Tom Milsom, Alex Day, Scissor Sisters (their new album is /awesome/), etc.

And Wednesday's questions:
1) Most badass musical instrument?
3) Most badass movie score moment?
5) Awesomest music?

Happy Tuesday!
-Fred

P.S. For shark week, can our theme be shark week? Please?

Hey! I Figured Out the Title Thingy

Hey every one! I am not going to lie I almost completely forgot that I had to blog today :( I'm a failure... Sigh
So anyways if you checked out our google doc I suggested the theme of music for this week! Since I don't think anyone had any strong issues with that idea i'm just going to roll with it, but if someone really dislikes it, they can just leave their complaints in a comment or something.
So Music, oh sweet sweet music what can I write about you? Well first off music is a really important in my life, I listen to it basically 24/7 and I am pretty sure I couldn't survive with out it. Okay that might be a bit overdramatic, can you imagine how dismally boring life would be without music of any sort?? Of course we wouldn't have to listen to some of the garbage thay put out nowadays but we also wouldn't have beethoven or Alkan or chopin or Louis Armstrong, Freddie Hubbard, Duke Ellington or god Jimmie Hendrix or oh gosh revolutionary bands like the beatles or queen or led zeplin, maddona... do you see my point? Music is also a powerful thing, play the right set of songs and you can rally a crowd into anger or righteousness, it is a very strong manipulator of emotion. I can remember more than one time that I've just let it all out listening to a sad song.

What else, hmmm well I play Piano! I have for 6 months and It's so freeing to be able to sit down and create a melody! Of course i still can't read music but i'm working on it

ok time for questions from the LOVELY if not a tad bit late, Kim

1)Did you see/like the Deathly Hallows trailer? YES YESSSS YES omg AMAZING AAHHHHH Sorry had a bit of a fan girl moment there. Yes I loved it the only problem I have with it was that the final battle scene had JUST Harry and Voldemort, and in the book a crowd of people surrounded them.

3)what is love?Love is the beautiful feeling of affection and warmth toward that binds one person to another ( or to a book... or object, or fictional character)
4) Have you ever listened to the Spice Girls or any other lame but awesome 90's band? haha I remember when I was four listening to the spice girls ALL the time and asking my mom what sexy was because i heard it in their song. Oh and I'm not sure if this is 90's but do the GoGo girls count?

Lateness

I know I know I know. I was late. I'm really sorry but i got super busy. My Tia Steph (21) and her Boyfriend (20) and their son (1 1/2) and Roy (the boyfriend)'s brother and girlfriend (16/17ish) came to visit from Texas and its been a party.

So, i went to the doctor yesterday and they stuck this camera up my nose and down my throat to see why I have frequent nosebleeds. It turns out that I have this vessle thing that they burned. Then they told me i have to get my tonsils out. Next week. On my moms BIRHTDAY. Why?!?! and My friend is gonna visit the week after that! GAAAHHHH. Buuuttt.... my mom said she might take us to LeakyCon next year to make up for it. :)

How this week didn't Suck:

1) Alex Day (nerimon)'s new album The world is mine (I don't know anything) came out. It is sooooo good! I love his voice. Jut check it out. Its streaming free at his website. http://alexdaymusic.com/music/

2) The Case of the Poopy Nintendo has finally been solved! Yay! I mean John's Video made me second guess how i remember most of my childhood, but it was nonetheless awesome and ca be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/user/vlogbrothers

3) The Deathly Hallows trailer! I've seen it about 5 times and get chills every time. I screamed when it came on before Eclipse. I was more excited to see it than eclipse.

Speaking of Harry Potter:
I'm on the sixth book now and I totally forgot how infuriating the last 4 books are! Most of the good people die, nobody believes anyone and everybody gets all angsty. Still good though. I've been wanting to watch Doctor Who too, but i don't know where to watch it at and where to start. That gives me the sads.

Questions!

1) I have seen Independence Day (the Will Smith one right?).
2)I have read WG,WG. I loved it! I literally said 'this may be the best book I've ever read.' when I finished. I think it should be renamed to : Will Grayson, Will Grayson (How Tiny Cooper Changed my Life)
3)I loved it! It was amazingly super fantastic.
4)The soles of my feet always get itchy! I never know how to scratch them though. I always end up rubbing my foot on stuff.
5) I've never listened to Marilyn Manson.
6) I'm Mexican American and grew up in South Texas so I'm pretty fluent in TexMex. I may throw out some words that aren't actually words though.

And Questions for Child-

1)Did you see/like the Deathly Hallows trailer?
2)What is your favorite kind of pizza?
3)what is love?
4) Have you ever listened to the Spice Girls or any other lame but awesome 90's band?
5) Favorite youtuber besides The brothers Green?

Thats all for me! I hope you guys have a superawesomemegafoxyhot (if you get that reference, i love you) weekend!

Best wishes- Kim

ps: Feel free to put your impressive brains together to think up a punishment for me! (as long as i don't have to video it because my camera is sick)
